Why We Recommend AVG for Virus Protection

At ACR we do the majority of the virus detection and removal in the Alliance and surrounding areas. Working with hundreds of infected computers each year we see every anti virus program in use today and are able to see which programs do or do not work. Many computers come in with other antivirus programs considered by many to be the number one brand, with completely up-to-date virus definitions. However, when scanned with AVG many viruses are found.

Another problem with these so called leading anti virus programs are the actual permanent damage that these programs do to the speed of your system. After installing the anti virus on your PC you will notice a significant reduction in speed. Now of course some of this diminished performance is due to the scanning of processes and data by the antivirus and is common to all anti viruses. However we have found that after removal of these programs the speed never returns due to the large amount of data written to the registry and/or other processes or programs loaded to track updates or keep track of their programs on your system. (Isn't that what a lot of viruses do?)

We have a few customers that seem to be "Virus Magnets". In most cases after they have installed AVG on their systems they stay virus-free. Based on our previous experiences with many different leading brand anti-virus programs, we consistently recommend AVG for our customers virus protection needs.
